Task 5 - Music Video Initial Ideas

In preperation for my music video, i have created a mind map, mapping out all of my ideas down to shots, characters i am going to use and props and how i am going to get ahold of them. This is the mind map.

Task 4 - Camera Shots and Camera Movement

In preperation for my music video, i have shot the different camera movements as still images which are shown and described below, for task two i had to demonstrate camera movements within a video.

XLS/ELS – This is an Extreme long shot, it shows all of the surroundings and allows the produce to set the scene

LS - This is a long shot, usually a head to toe shot, it helps to identify the character and where they are in the scene

MS - This is a mid shot, a shot of the subjects torso, this allows the producer to show subject in better detail and gives a better impression of the character

CU – This is a close up shot, usually of the subjects head. This allows the viewer to see emotion in the character and it is usally when the character is smiling or upset

XCU – This is a extreme close up, usually of the characters eye or a facial feature on the subjects face, this shows the characters face in more detail

Two shot – This is a two shot, these shots are shot with two characters in and are usually used to show the relationship between two people. For example the image below looks as though  the girl is being bullied and the other is being victimised

Task 2
Zoom Out
Using zoom in a video is one the most popular and most familiar camera movement. It involves changing the focal lenghth of the lens on the camera to make the subject appear closer or further away in the frame. Most cameras have built-in zoom features.

Track Out
Track out is similar to zoom out however it involves physically moving away from the subject from a certain distance.

Track In
Track in is similar to zoom in and is the opposite of track out, it involves moving towards the subject from a certain distance.

Tilt
Tilt involves moving the camera lens up or down while keeping its horizontal axis constant for example, nodding your head up and down is an example of tilting.

Pan
Pan involves moving the camera lens to one side or another, for example looking to your right then looking to your right, this is panning.

Zoom In
Zooming in is the opposite of zooming out, it still involves changing the focal length of the camera lens but it moves further towards the subject.

This is a video of all of the camera movements shown above.
